Our Farm & Safety Practices

At SAFELINE pet, we aim to provide our customers with the best quality product for their feline friends. In order to make that happen, we must start at the source. Our farmers follow all organic guidelines laid out by the NOP and the biosecurity measures laid out by the VDH and CDC. Our farmers feed their chickens a healthy, targeted diet from a local, family-owned feed business. Our partnering farm has over 20 cats where they are dedicated to the safe and ethical exposure of chickens to the Fel d1 cat allergen. The cats roam in the same spaces as the chickens in order to adequately spread the allergen throughout their environment. The farm cats have been raised to cohabitate with, and protect, the hens from mice. At SAFELINE pet, we ensure the care of all of our animals so you can ensure the care of your beloved cat.

We are aware of the increasing concern regarding Avian Influenza A (H5N1) "Bird Flu" cases throughout the USA. According to the Virginia Department of Health, "To date, H5N1 bird flu virus has not been detected in people, dairy cattle, or other domestic animals in Virginia." This includes the counties of Dayton, Virginia and Roanoke, Virginia where we produce our eggs and manufacture our product. SAFELINE's manufacturing facility strictly processes chicken eggs, eliminating any exposure to or cross-contamination from dairy cattle or its byproducts.

Heat Treatment/Pasteurization

H5N1 cannot survive if heated to 165°F. SaFeline’s facility uses an immersion circulator to heat and hold the eggs to 165°F before dunking them into an ice bath and loading them into freeze dryers. All eggs are washed prior to pasteurization, and pasteurized eggs are strictly kept separate from unpasteurized eggs.

How does SaFeline protect our chickens and cats and your cats from the Bird Flu?

From farm to facility, we are following the Virginia Department of Health's recommended biosecurity practices:

Our structural biosecurity measures include:

  • fully-enclosed chicken houses and coops
  • isolation of chickens from visitors, wild birds, and rodents

Our operational biosecurity measures include:

  • regular cleaning of poultry living areas and equipment
  • hand washing before and after egg collection and poultry handling
  • no eating/drinking in poultry living areas
  • wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), specifically disposable gloves, goggles, face mask, and hair net
  • wearing dedicated farm clothing and shoes
  • monitoring the health of our chickens
  • knowing the warning signs of illness

We have small to mid-sized local farms maintained by individual families and their farmhands. Our #1 priority is the safety of your cats, our cats, and our chickens through maintaining ethical farming and business practices.

Kitty Allergic

I got tested and I'm allergic to cat dander, I started giving this to my cat almost a month now, I dont have severe reactions, I did clean, wash, vaccum and even brush my cat to start noticing more. It hasn't been much time but it's a bit of an improvement. I'm 😊 😃

Was Battling Severe Cat Allergy, Now Allergy is Mostly Gone!

I’ll put my short review first in case you don’t want to read too in-depth:
I had a sudden severe bout of hives, allergenic asthma, and even some light facial swelling due to my cats over the span of months. Antihistamines didn’t even seem to work. Now, after trying SaFeline for about a month, even on my worst days, my only symptoms might be slight sneezing or coughing (if I don’t take an antihistamine, but with antihistamine, all symptoms are gone, don’t even need an inhaler). I do also use an air purifier that is able to filter out particles as small as the cat dander (~2 microns), just to be safe. Great product, has helped immensely. My cats took to it immediately, no problems trying to get them to eat it.

My longer review:
I had the hives, allergenic asthma, and facial swelling for months. I had consulted a doctor because I had no prior history of ANY allergies, food or airborne, and they initially thought contact dermatitis. But the symptoms wouldn’t go away with just corticosteroids and antihistamines. As soon as I stopped either med, they came right back within a day or two. So eventually I took an allergy test and they determined that I was severely allergic to my cats, even though I’d had them for over five years without these symptoms. I refuse to get rid of them, so I was looking through different products to help me with my allergy. A famous product, Pacagen was so pricey, so I wanted an alternative with a smaller price point and stumbled upon SaFeline. Of course, I initially had my doubts, but as stated in my shorter review above, SaFeline definitely does work. As I also said in my shorter review, I do still have the mildest of symptoms, assuming I don’t take an antihistamine, however with my allergy being so severe, I wouldn’t expect a product to completely eliminate my allergy and curb its symptoms 100%. However, it definitely surpassed my expectations and I don’t even have to take the antihistamine every day like I had been. I use an air purifier as well that filters out particles as small as 2 microns to limit the amount of cat dander in my home as well.

I’ve seen reviews saying that their cats did not like the product, however from my personal experience, my cats LOVE the product. They even smelled it through the shipping box and were trying to get into it. It wouldn’t stick too well to dry food, so you might have to moisten the kibble if you only use dry food, but my cats get a meal of dry food and a meal of wet food, so I just put it in their canned food once a day.

My package arrives in about a week of when I place the order, so that’s not too bad either, just factor that in when you re-order so that your cats don’t miss any servings.

FAQ

What ingredients are in the supplement?

Simply chicken eggs exposed to cat allergens and our proprietary sugar blend. No fillers or preservatives.

When will my package arrive after placing the order?

Your package will be shipped 2-5 business days after your order is placed.

How long does it take to feel a reduction in my allergy symptoms?

After around 3 weeks of daily feeding to your cat, you may start to feel relief from your cat allergy symptoms.

What are the directions for feeding my cat the supplement?

Feed it to your cat once a day everyday. Add one scoop (one teaspoon) of the powder supplement into your cat’s wet or dry food and mix thoroughly. Add a little bit of water to the dry food if the powder supplement is not adhering. For kittens under 10 months old, mix in a half scoop (1/2 teaspoon) to their wet/dry food.

Is SaFeline pet’s food topper safe for my cat?

Yes, our product is safe for cats. It's an all-natural, simple formula made with eggs, sugar, and D-mannose (a natural sugar made from cranberries). That's it. No preservatives. No fillers. 100% natural.

How much sugar is in the product?

The sugar is added to protect the allergen-neutralizing proteins in the eggs through the freeze drying process. There is less than 1 gram of sugar in each jar. The sugar is added to protect the proteins in the egg from becoming de-natured during the freeze-drying process. 3% is the recommended sugar limit in a cat's daily diet. Our sugar amount is below this limit while still remaining effective.

What research have you done to formulate the supplement?

All of our research sources can be found on the ‘How it Works’ page here.

What safety and health measures are included in your manufacturing process?

Our farms and operations are based out of Dayton and Roanoke, Virginia. Both co-owners have professional experience in the food service industry and follow all Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP), Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. SaFeline pet and our farmers follow biosecurity measures, including, but not limited to, sanitizing utensils before/after use, using stainless steel surfaces and materials, wearing PPE, and minimizing cross-contamination.

Do you ship internationally?

No, we currently do not ship outside of the USA.
